Harbor Retirement Associates Names Senior Living Veteran David A. Berrien as Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions
Vero Beach, FL — Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA), a premier senior living development and management company, has announced the appointment of David A. Berrien as Executive Vice President for Development & Acquisitions. Berrien brings more than 25 years of highly successful real estate, multifamily, and senior housing experience to the HRA executive leadership team.
In his new role, Berrien will lead HRA’s strategic expansion, overseeing the pipeline for new senior housing development, campus transformations, and market acquisitions nationwide.

Prior to joining HRA, Berrien spent over nine years as a Senior Director of Development at Erickson Senior Living, the country’s largest privately held CCRC provider. During his tenure at Erickson, he directly managed over $1 billion in successful senior living development and major campus expansions across multiple states, including Texas, Virginia, Kansas, North Carolina, and Colorado. His notable achievements include executing multi-year, master-planned build-outs of expansive campuses, resulting in thousands of new independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartments.

Over his 20+ year career in real estate management, Berrien has developed more than $1 billion in performing multifamily and senior assets. His background spans entrepreneurship as the founder of private real estate consulting and construction firms, as well as regional leadership roles with prominent institutional groups including AIMCO REIT and The Bozzuto Group. He possesses specialized expertise in diverse capital structures, conventionally financed deals, and HUD 221(d)(4) financing programs.
Berrien holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from The College of Wooster and an Associate of Arts in Construction Management from Montgomery College. Outside of his professional endeavors, he is an active community and HOA leader, a dedicated church member, and an avid fitness and music enthusiast.
