My Aunt Bernice and I would like you to relay to all the staff at Harbor Chase our thanks for making her stay a very happy one. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and Irene and John were so enjoyable to dine with. Bernice could not get over the patience that everyone including all the young people had. If necessary Bernice would not hesitate to return to HarborChase and you can be sure we will recommend your facility to all our friends. Thanks again for all the effort you took to coordinate her stay. Your assistance was invaluable.
— Sincerely, Peggy
As a close friend of Marjorie, who visited her daily, I was in a unique position to observe the many kindness extended to her by the staff. On her behalf I want to thank you.
Dear Ms. Tolley-Hunt,
I am sorry that I am tardy writing this letter, but I wanted to thank you for the wonderful care that my Grandmother, Mary received while a resident at your facility.
As a physician, I see my tragedies in care that come to hospitals from nursing homes. When if first became apparent to me that “Mimi” needed this level of care, my first reaction was one of nausea, since I was worried that she would receive poor medical care and suffer poor personal hygiene as she lived the last years of her life. This was particularly worrisome since she had advancing dementia, and really could not fend for herself at all.
I want to give you and your staff the highest compliment for the care that she received while under your watch. Any fear that I had was washed away with the love, compassion, and kindness that you showed Mimi.
Any time my family or me would come to Florida to see her, she was always bathed and groomed, her clothes were clean, she smelled fresh (believe me I understand what a daunting chore this is given your patient population!), she was well fed, and she was happy. And these visits were unannounced as well! You cannot believe how impressed I continually was at your ability to take care of her. The same comments came from my parents, my brother, and my aunt and uncle. We, as a family, deeply appreciate the attentive care that she was given from day one of her arrival.
On top of that, your staff was always warm, friendly, inviting, and had wonderful people skills in dealing with fragile physical nature of the elderly, but more importantly, the compassion to make them still feel like needed, useful members of the society. Every time I was there, I observed the main sitting room; without fail, one of your workers was interacting with the residents in a positive manner. The dining room was inviting. The facility did not have the sterile, impersonal, antiseptic smell that permeates many nursing homes. Rather, it was clean, yet fresh, and it seems like I always smelled fresh flowers somewhere. The rooms were open and, unlike many other facilities, did not remind one of a prison cell. Rather, they were decorated warmly, and if someone were un-blindfolded in my grandmother’s room, they would think they were in her bedroom at home.
Importantly to me, any picture that I sent to her of my boys was always hanging on the wall, and as I mentioned that visits were un-announced, this was not a staged event. Your staff took the care and time to hang up pictures of her family, even when she had advanced dementia, believing that it would still matter to her soul. For that I will be eternally grateful.
In closing, words cannot express the appreciation that my family feels for your assisted living and skilled nursing home. I would recommend you highly and without hesitation to anyone who needs your care.
