2nd Annual Invitational Chef Showdown
January 21, 2010 - HarborChase Memory Care in Naples, Florida was a proud participant in the 2nd Annual Invitational Chef Showdown on January 21, 2010 at Juniper Village. Josh Cook (yes that is his real last name!) competed against chefs from Bentley Village, The Glenview at Pelican Bay, and Juniper Village. The category was Individual Desserts. The judges were Paw Mikkelsen from Mikkelsen’s Pastry Shop, Philip Fincher from Royal Palm Chocolates, and Ben Nelson Jr., Mayor of Bonita Springs, Florida.
Chef Josh presented a Banana Walnut Bread Pudding topped with a Foster Sauce and served with Crème Anglaise and Strawberry Puree. The judges sampled each dessert and scored the participants on Taste, Presentation, and Creativity. Chef Josh was awarded 2nd place, with only two points separating him from the 1st place winner. Thirty guests attended the event and all through the crowd remarks were overheard on how much everyone enjoyed Chef Josh’s scrumptious dessert.
